Role of Parents

Welcome to St. Peter the Apostle Faith Formation! We hope you have enjoyed a blessed summer!

The dedicated staff and volunteers at St. Peter the Apostle are dedicated to helping your children grow in faith and be closer to God. Faith Formation is ongoing, lifelong, and should be centered in the home. Families are encouraged to engage in this process together.

Facilitating Mass participation, understanding, and appreciation of the richness, beauty, and meaning of our great faith will be at the heart of our Formation goals for the year! Education in the faith by the parents should begin in a child’s earliest years. This already happens when family members help one another to grow in faith by the witness of a Christian life in keeping with the Gospel.

Your children learn the most from the example you set when you pray together and actively participate in Mass and the sacraments as a family. Family catechesis precedes, accompanies, and enriches other forms of instruction in the faith. As parents, you are the primary educators of your children and are their best teachers. Parents have the mission of teaching their children to pray and discover their vocation as children of God. The parish is the Eucharist community and the heart of the liturgical life of Christian families. It is a privileged place for the catechesis of children and parents.
